Before I get going with posting my vacation recaps, I feel like I need to get a few things out regarding my running lately.
1. I AM running. Evelin runs, yes.
You may have noticed that I am not that runner who is tweeting/blogging/instagramming distance/time for each and every run I do. In fact, I don’t even tweet/blog/instagram about every run I do. Shame on me? Yeah, maybe (I mean, if it ain’t tweeted/instagrammed then it’s not for real?). Sometimes I want to change this, and tweet out my distance/time for EVERY run I do but I just don’t feel like it’s necessary. I’m definitely not saying that there’s something wrong with doing this, as a matter of fact I actually think it’s fun/interesting to read about others’ run updates on twitter etc. I really do, it can be super motivating to me. So why don’t I do the same? I just don’t know? I might start doing this sometime, but for now I’m fine with just running and logging my miles/times in my calendar.
In case you’re super curious about my running.. Here are some numbers to give you an idea of what I am actually doing (and not always tweeting/blogging/instagramming about):
I run about 5-6 days/week, average of 18mi/week usually including some shorter “track” (see below) intervals and some hill repeats. To that I add 4-5 days with strength training (mostly body weight exercises) and 4-7 days with yoga (30-90min sessions). About 3-5 times/week I walk to the farmers market downtown (about 5mi round trip), sometimes I add in a few bike rides too (they are usually pretty short – about 5-12mi). I also swim every now and then, but to be honest I am a hopelessly bad swimmer (definitely not a triathlete in the making here!) however I do enjoy it a lot.
2. I haven’t used my GPS watch in a long time.
That is true. I used it a few times when running back home in Sweden and Norway, but since then it’s been quietly hanging out on its hook in my closet. Why? I don’t really need it. I run in/around my neighborhood and I have a very good idea of where the mi marks are on the loops that I’m running. It’s actually really nice not looking at my wrist all the time, the only bad thing is that I have NO idea of what pace I’m running at. Probably (most likely) always a tad too fast, EZ run or not.
3. I am currently not racing. Like not at all.
A part of me is terrified to admit this, because if you’re a “real” runner you RACE. Am I right? Um.. I don’t know, I kind of have a problem with this because while I feel like I SHOULD be racing, I just don’t think it’s necessary to be a “real runner”. It’s not that I don’t want to race, I definitely do. But I am in some kind of “one thing at the time” mood, and what really matters to me at the moment is to feel good. To smile and be happy with myself and the life I live. It’s working. And I know I will be racing again, sooner or later!
4. I am loving running.
Yes, Evelin Runs. And she’s loving every little second of it. Come rain (there’s been a lot of that lately) or come shine I am still madly in love with running. It makes me a better person, daily. I am thankful for running making it easy for me to “love the life you live, live the life you love”. Running is life. Running is LOVE.
